The scene was filmed at The Central-Mid-Levels Escalator is one of the longest covered escalators in the world. It was built in 1993. At the time of filming, the escalator had just opened. It caught the interest of director Wong Kar-wai. It has become one of the most famous landmarks in Hong Kong. Every day, the escalator carries nearly 80,000 people to the Mid-Levels and the center of Central District.
