From 1940-1945 it was requisitioned by the War Office for World War II. Bands such as UB40, Madness, Girls Aloud, Spandau Ballet, and Simply Red have performed here. The racecourse is near Esher railway station, which receives trains from London Waterloo. This location is also used for horse racing scenes.

The manor has been used repeatedly in television programs such as "Playing the King" and "Midsomer Murders." In 2007, Woody Allen's film "Cassandra's Dream" was shot here. Actors Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell filmed scenes in the garden.
