The scene was filmed at Hatfield House was built in 1611 for Robert Cecil and has remained in the Cecil family ever since. The house was built from bricks of the former royal palace of Hatfield, which was mostly demolished for its construction. The house is an example of Jacobean architecture and is surrounded by extensive gardens.

The scene was filmed at Hampton Court Palace is a royal palace in the borough of Richmond upon Thames, 11.7 miles (18.8 km) southwest and upstream of central London on the River Thames. Construction of the palace began in 1515 for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, a favorite of King Henry VIII. In 1529, when Wolsey fell out of favor, the cardinal gave the palace to the king to avoid disgrace; later Henry VIII expanded it. Along with St James's Palace, it is one of only two surviving palaces out of many owned by King Henry VIII. The palace is open to the public and is a major tourist attraction. It is easily reached by train from Waterloo station in central London and from Hampton Court railway station in East Molesey. The Cartoon Gallery, located on the south side of Fountain Court, was designed by Christopher Wren.
