The scene was filmed at Hearn Generating Station - a decommissioned power plant originally built as a coal-fired plant in 1951 and converted to natural gas in the 1970s. The station was closed in the 1980s, and the site has been largely unused since. Most of the equipment on site was removed in 2002 when plans were made to turn it into a film studio, but those plans were eventually abandoned.

The scene was filmed at The current Royal Ontario Museum is a combination of several structures built in the 20th century. The original building is an Italo-Romanesque style structure designed by architects Frank Darling and John A. Pearson in 1914. It was expanded in 1933, and an Art Deco rotunda was built in the east wing designed by Alfred H. Chapman and James Oxley. The Curatorial Centre was added in 1984 designed by Gene Kinoshita in a modern style. The latest expansion is the deconstructivist "Crystal", designed by Daniel Libeskind, which opened in 2007 and includes a new lobby and three-story atrium.
