The scene was filmed Olowalu Landing on the island of Maui is a local gem. The beach area around Olowalu Landing is bordered on both sides by privately owned land. Remnants of a sugar enterprise started in 1876 by Philip Milton and Goodale Armstrong can still be found here. However, the terrain was too rocky for profitable cultivation. In 1914, Olowalu Landing became one of twelve landings on Maui regularly serviced by the Inter-Island Steamship Company. Steamships carried cargo, passengers, and mail to and from Olowalu.
