In Reality

The scene was filmed at Cahir Castle, one of the largest castles in Ireland. Construction began in 1142 by Conor O'Brien, Prince of Thomond. The castle is built on an earlier fortification known as a cathair, meaning stone fort, from which the name derives. The castle is very well preserved.
