The scene was filmed at Cragside - an unusual Victorian house near the town of Rothbury. The original building consisted of a small shooting lodge, built between 1862 and 1864. In 1869, architect Richard Norman Shaw was asked to expand the site. Cragside was the home of William Armstrong, 1st Baron Armstrong, founder of the Armstrong Whitworth armaments firm. He was an industrial magnate, scientist, philanthropist and inventor who lived in the 19th century and died in 1900. The house was used only for exterior shots. It was chosen for filming because it is surrounded by tall pine trees similar to those in Northern California. All the material was collected in just two shooting days. The rooftop scene with the glass ceiling was filmed at Pinewood Studios, as were all interior shots.

The scene was filmed at Halona Beach Cove - a small sandy area located on the southeastern coast of Oahu. Because of the film, the beach got the nickname Eternity Beach.
