The scene was filmed at The Los Angeles Theatre was designed by theatre architect S. Charles Lee. Its interior is in the French Baroque style. It was built in 1931 and cost over a million dollars. The theatre seats 2,000 people. Charlie Chaplin helped finance the construction so that it would be ready for the premiere of his film "City Lights" in January 1931. It was the last such movie palace built on Broadway, as the area began to feel the effects of the Depression. After the theatre closed to the public in 1994, it was used for special events and filming.
