In reality

The scene was filmed at The bridge over the IJssel River connects the cities of Zwolle and Hattem. Since 1999, the bridge over the IJssel has been a national monument. In March 2008, filming took place on and under the bridge.

Old City Hall

Scene where Michiel and his mother go to the town hall, where his father is held captive by German soldiers.

In reality

The scene was filmed at The old town hall is now used as a private residence. The interior used in the film has been preserved. The scenes in Megen were filmed in April 2009.
