The scene was filmed at the Empire State Building, a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper in New York City. Its roof height is 1,250 feet (380 m) and its total height, including antenna, is 1,454 feet (443.2 m). Its name is derived from "Empire State", the nickname of New York. It was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon and completed in 1931. Construction started on March 17, 1930, with an average construction rate of one floor per day.
