It was filmed in 1980, but the action takes place in 1958, so the director needed to select locations that would immerse the viewer a couple of decades back.

The scene was filmed at Maternity Hospital No. 25, which opened in 1958 and is one of the oldest maternity hospitals in Moscow. The film's action takes place in 1958 (though it was filmed in 1980), so it turned out very authentic! The hospital is still operating today, and access to the porch shown in the film is free.

Tikhomirova's Relatives' House

In the Movie

Scene where Lyuda and Katya come to the house of Katya's wealthy relatives to look after the apartment while they are on vacation. Lyuda came to negotiate that she would also live in this apartment, which according to her plan would help her find a rich husband.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at a building on Kudrinskaya Square - one of the seven Stalinist skyscrapers. During the film's time, as in modern Russia, it was elite real estate in Moscow, meaning the people living there were the elite of Soviet society.

Bench on the Alley

In the Movie

Scene where Katya arranged a meeting with Rudolf, during which she confesses that she is pregnant and asks him for help to get an abortion, as they were banned in the USSR and required connections. But Rudolf says it's not his problem and, citing being busy, leaves.

In Reality

The scene was filmed on Gogolevsky Boulevard in Moscow, a small alley in the city center. Given Rudolf's profession and busy schedule, it's quite realistic that he chose this meeting spot. Also, the boulevard is very picturesque, so directors loved it and often filmed movies there in the USSR.

Taxi Stand

Scene where After meeting on the train, Gosha waits for Katya at the taxi stand and offers her a ride. She initially refuses but then agrees, and their acquaintance continues.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at Kursky Railway Station Square. This is a popular place for suburban departures, and the station looked quite modern and architecturally interesting for the 1980s. Therefore, it was chosen for filming to create an interesting background and geographical authenticity for the scene.

Archway

In the Movie

Scene where hooligans harass Alexandra's boyfriend, pinning him against a wall and threatening him. Gosha and his friend decide to intervene and resolve the situation peacefully, but it doesn't work and a fight breaks out. In the scuffle, Gosha and his friend quickly win, and the hooligans run away.

In Reality

The scene was filmed in an archway leading to a courtyard in one of the high-rises on Leninsky Prospekt in Moscow. It has a sufficiently large area for filming this scene but remains a dark and unwelcoming place.

Dry Cleaner

In the Movie

Scene where a general enters the dry cleaner to pick up his suit. Lyuda, who is still looking for a good husband, immediately starts getting acquainted and flirting with him, but the general's wife follows him in, and Lyuda's plan fails.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at the intersection of Zorge and Alabyan streets, specifically in the direction of the latter, where the general walks away with his wife, glancing back at Lyuda. This location is already quite far from the center but not yet suburban, showing that Lyuda does not live the best life, yet she is in a good residential area, has a job, and housing.
