The screen adaptation of the fairy tale 'The Wizard of the Emerald City' was undertaken. To show Ellie, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion's journey on a grand scale, principal photography took place in the Republic of Dagestan, with additional filming in Moscow and the Moscow region. In the mountains and on the plains, in fields and on hills — the creators did everything to immerse the viewer as deeply as possible into the magical world.

Scene where Ellie and her companions the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion cross a poppy field. Poppies as tall as a person block the heroes' path to the Emerald City, where each seeks to fulfill their wishes.

In Reality

The scene was filmed in the picturesque plains and fields of the Buynaksky District of the Republic of Dagestan, which perfectly suited this scene. Despite the abundance of graphics, it was important for the creators to convey the scale of the world through location shooting.

Land of the Munchkins

Scene where A hurricane carries Ellie's house to a place of incredible beauty. The heroine and her dog Toto meet the Munchkins — the inhabitants of the fairy-tale Blue Country. In this country, Ellie meets the Scarecrow and the Tin Man. It is from here that the heroes' journey to the Emerald City begins.

In Reality

The scene was filmed in the Gunibsky District of the Republic of Dagestan. The film crew spent two weeks in mountainous Dagestan to showcase the fictional Blue Country in all its glory. The Land of the Munchkins seems to be copied from New Zealand landscapes, but it is Dagestan.
