The filming of the trilogy's finale took place mainly in northern England, in the northeastern part and the regions of Yorkshire and Humber. The creators chose locations as close to nature and remote from civilization as possible. This is understandable, since civilization almost no longer exists in the post-apocalyptic world.

A creepy and huge monument made of human bones stretches for tens of meters, striking the imagination. Better not to think about who built it and why.

The scene was filmed in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where this monument was artificially created. It is reassuring that it was not there before. In the Yorkshire Dales National Park, near the River Ure, a public footpath was closed for the filming of this terrifying but majestic scene.

Cathedral

Scene where the virus is already spreading at an incredible speed, the flow of infected is impossible to control, and their actions even more so. In the cathedral scene, a horde of zombies bursts through the windows, destroying everything in its path, including the feelings of the faithful. But the only thing our heroes should worry about is survival. The desperate scream of a still healthy man shows that despair sometimes takes over.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at Fountains Abbey, the ruins of the largest English abbey of medieval England. The building has well preserved its original appearance, which helped the film crew recreate the look of a cathedral. Undoubtedly, the structure looks majestic and emphasizes the scale of the tragedy.

Island

Scene where a remote island surrounded by miles of water. This is an ideal place for post-apocalyptic horror, allowing survivors after a fight to protect themselves using the island and the adjacent causeway. But what if an outbreak occurs inside the fortress itself?

In Reality

The scene was filmed on the island. Danny Boyle and his team make full use of Holy Island, located off the beautiful coast of Northumberland. Its picturesque view and remoteness from the mainland perfectly fit into a world where people try to escape the horror of reality.
