A significant part of the filming took place in the Kaliningrad Region. This region, located on the Baltic Sea coast, had unique architecture reminiscent of European cities. The filmmakers skillfully used this feature to create the illusion of a Western environment without leaving the Soviet Union.
Vienna played an important role in creating dynamic chase scenes. The Austrian capital, with its wide avenues and recognizable landmarks, became an ideal location for filming car chases.
The city of Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod) also became one of the filming locations. This major industrial center on the Volga provided the film crew with the necessary infrastructure. Probably, scenes related to Tulyev's work at the factory, as well as some interior episodes, were filmed here.

The scene where Dembovich arrives in Pskov, walks from the station itself, crosses a long bridge against the backdrop of the Pskov Kremlin. He came here to find another agent, Terentyev, and incite him to murder the sister of the imaginary Mikhail Zarokov.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at The main embankment and street of Pskov, running through a large part of the city and the Kremlin. Rizhsky Prospekt starts from the Soviet Army Bridge and goes westward.

Leningrad

In the Film

The scene where At Dembovich's request, Terentyev came to Leningrad in the film «The Resident's Mistake» to kill Mikhail Zarokov's sister. Dembovich decided that after the murder of the sister, Terentyev should steal something from a kiosk, get caught by the police, and sit for a couple of years to hide a major crime under a minor one. But in the end, he was detained right at the station.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at Now Saint Petersburg (formerly Leningrad), filming started from the exit of Moskovsky Station, through the arch to the left of the main entrance. And he got into a car with the police, but he thought it was a taxi, right on Vosstaniya Square.

Beach

In the Film

The scene where A completely crowded beach, where our undercover heroes came, and it seems they just decided to sunbathe on the beach. In fact, Bekas and Krug are not relaxing on the beach, but preparing for an illegal crossing of the state border, walking along the edge of the slope.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at in the Kaliningrad Region, near the city of Svetlogorsk. This region has a huge number of different beaches, but the best ones are just near this city. The border is also nearby.
