The legendary Soviet comedy about a good-natured pilot was filmed in Tusheti (northeastern Georgia), at locations in Telavi, Moscow, and West Berlin. The village scenes were shot in the mountain village of Omalo, which could only be reached by horse or by a rare helicopter. The film crew lived in tents near the village. Work on the film was often at risk because locals constantly came to Vakhtang Kikabidze, held feasts in his honor, and treated him to chacha.

During filming, the crew faced a problem - shepherds from all sides of the village started coming to pay respect to the beloved actor. The actor had to say that he had health problems and could not drink.

Scene where Vakhtang Kikabidze's character walks around Berlin and ends up at the airport. There, a comrade he knew from flight school calls out to him. The comrade's group of colleagues warmly greets the hero. Among them is a girl who had seen the hero in Tbilisi.

In Reality

The scene was filmed In West Berlin, at Tegel Airport, which remained unchanged for a long time and continued operating, but unfortunately was finally closed on November 8, 2020. A university campus is now planned to be located there.

Frunzik Mkrtchyan always created lines for his characters not only during filming but also during the dubbing stage. The film "Mimino" was no exception — almost the entire court scene was the result of his improvisation. Rubik's famous line, such as "I feel such personal animosity towards the victim that I can't eat," was also invented by the actor himself.

The scene was filmed In the courthouse — this is an active District Court located at 7th Rostovsky Lane in Moscow. Despite changes in the surrounding area and the appearance of new buildings, the courthouse itself has been preserved and continues to operate at its original address.
