The film about the exploits of a group of researchers who encountered an extraterrestrial life form during an expedition to Antarctica was filmed in British Columbia, the USA, and Alaska. Scene where The team watches a clip in which Norwegians set thermite charges on a large excavation site. They then decide to visit the site to find out what's there. Landing there, they quickly approach the site. Discovering a huge alien spaceship, MacReady says, "God, how long do you think it's been in the ice?" Norris replies, "Well, given the time it takes for an object to be pushed upward, a very long time..."

The scene was filmed In Juneau, the capital of Alaska. This city is known for its stunning nature, which became a key element of the filming location. The surrounding mountains are capped with snow. In winter, the city is immersed in an atmosphere of harsh but captivating beauty.

Scene where MacReady and Dr. Copper land at the Norwegian station. They quickly realize something happened there. They find a portable video unit in Norwegian, which the doctor keeps for further investigation. Along the way, they find what remains of a burned humanoid and take it back to the station.

In Reality

The scene was filmed At Salmon Glacier, one of the largest in Canada. You can even visit this place on your own. The glacier is accessible by road from Hyder (Alaska) from early July to the end of September. This place is of incredible beauty.
