The film directed by Klim Shipenko tells about the last days of the poet Sergei Yesenin's life. The plot is based on biographical events when dancer Isadora Duncan arrives in the USSR. The poet decides to escape from Moscow to Leningrad to meet his beloved. His path is full of difficulties and unexpected obstacles. Filming took place in Moscow and St. Petersburg, where large-scale sets with a total area of more than 7 thousand square meters were built for the film.

Within these walls, in an atmosphere of luxury and seclusion, the poet spent time pondering life and death, which was also reflected in his later poems.

The scene was filmed on Malaya Morskaya Street in St. Petersburg. The street is relatively narrow but rich in architectural monuments. There are buildings in the style of classicism and late Baroque, many of which have rich decorative trim and high windows, preserving the atmosphere of the old city. It is imbued with the history and spirit of 18th-19th century Petersburg, making it an excellent location for filming, giving scenes an atmosphere of the past, tranquility, and grandeur.
