The scene was filmed near Stupp's Store in Adamstown, Maryland. This location looks almost the same as it did during filming over 20 years ago, and movie fans can easily transport themselves back in time by visiting this little shop. If you're considering a trip to Stupp's Store, it's about an hour's drive from Washington, D.C., or Baltimore, Maryland.

The Abandoned House

Scene where Heather and Mike enter an abandoned house and encounter mysterious symbols adorning the walls, as well as tiny handprints. The sound of Josh's voice seems to come from inside the structure. In a desperate attempt to find him, Mike rushes upstairs only to discover that the voice is actually coming from the basement.

The scene was filmed at the abandoned Griggs House in Granite, Maryland. This historic two-story residence was built back in the mid-19th century. In the three years after the film's release, the house attracted many fans who reported its deteriorating condition and potential safety hazards. Unfortunately, the building was demolished in 2003.
