Released in 1997, this iconic film contains all the ingredients of a memorable horror movie: four attractive young friends, a terrible secret, and a bloodthirsty killer seeking brutal revenge. If you want to hit the road and visit some iconic locations from the film «I Know What You Did Last Summer», you need to head to North Carolina and California. You might want to start with the road where the teenagers had a shocking accident, hitting a pedestrian. Those steep and winding turns are in Colmer Gulch in Northern California. But most of the film's shooting locations can be found on the other side of the country, in North Carolina.

Ray entertains his friends with a scary story about a crazy killer with a hook for a hand who escaped from an insane asylum. Of course, all his friends have different ideas about what exactly happens in the story and how it should be told.

In Reality

The scene was filmed At Schoolhouse Beach in Northern California, about 25 miles west of Santa Rosa. The beach is easy to find near the Coastal Highway. In the film, it is referred to as Dawson's Beach as a reference to Dawson's Creek, which was also created by screenwriter Kevin Williamson.

Scene where Ray gets behind the wheel while Barry continues to have fun. With his head out of the sunroof, hooting and shouting, Barry takes a swig from a bottle, not paying attention to the fact that they are approaching a winding section of the highway. Barry drops the bottle into the car, and Ray gets distracted by what's happening. «Look out!» Barry shouts from the roof, just before the car hits a mysterious figure on the road.

In Reality

The scene was filmed On the Coastal Highway in Colmer Gulch, about 20 miles north of Schoolhouse Beach. This area has several breathtaking coastal views worth seeing, but don't forget to watch the road while you do!

Julie's House

Scene where Julie returns home from college in Southport for summer vacation. And it is here that she receives a «hello» from the past – an anonymous letter with no return address containing the creepy text «I know what you did last summer».

The scene was filmed At 209 Short Street in Southport, North Carolina. Julie's house is less than half a mile walk from the city center. It is a cute and cozy building that is perfect for filming the everyday life of the characters.
