All filming locations for the sci-fi comedy about a mad scientist were in California. The cast and crew moved quite a bit from one location to another. Major cities and places in California where filming took place: Stockton, San Jose, Burlingame, Vallejo, and San Francisco. All scenes with the Professor's basement were part of sets built on Treasure Island in San Francisco. The basketball scene and the scene where the professor's house explodes while he is in the basement are also sets built on this island. Scenes with the Honeyker library and President Sara Jean's office were filmed at Mercy High School and adapted for the film.

A computerized voice—a flying robot named Weebo—asks him, "Did you see the paper this morning?" and shows him the morning newspaper, which reads: "Hoenicker threatens to close the college."

In Reality

The scene was filmed at 1962 University Avenue in San Jose. This is a private residence, so visitors will need permission to take photos. The house itself has a cozy and pleasant atmosphere, which is why it was chosen as one of the main locations for the film.

College

In the Movie

Scene where the professor is quite absent-minded and doesn't realize he's walked into the wrong class at the college. Art class students are drawing realistic sketches of a fruit bowl, pheasants, and models. Professor Philip, as if nothing is wrong, begins teaching the art students about gravity.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at the University of the Pacific in California. It is located in the city of Stockton. This university often hosts various events, and its architecture and style create a favorable atmosphere for filming scenes requiring an intellectual or academic setting. The university is open to visitors, and you can also book a tour.

Clouds

Scene where Weebo realizes how unhappy the Professor is without Sara and works to reconcile them. The Professor takes Sara for a ride in the clouds in a Ford Thunderbird. Thanks to this ride, Sara comes up with a plan to save the college.

In Reality

The scene was filmed at the former naval facility Mare Island Naval Shipyard, California. This facility is a shipyard and former US Navy base located on the western edge of the city of Vallejo. The area is now used for the production of prefabricated houses.
