The film is a classic backstage Broadway story in which an experienced director overcomes serious health problems to stage a new show sponsored by a wealthy admirer of the leading lady. When the star is suddenly injured on the eve of the premiere, an inexperienced chorus girl finds herself in the spotlight, turning rehearsals, rivalries, and pressure into a frantic race to opening night.
