The scene was filmed at Wilson Bay on Lake Wakatipu, which has a stone beach. Closeburn, a suburb of Queenstown on the South Island, is a 10-minute drive from Queenstown. The Seven Mile Track starts or ends at Wilson Bay, and there are many other walking trails nearby.
