The scene was filmed at Roque de los Muchachos Observatory - or in Spanish: Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos, ORM - is an astronomical observatory located in the municipality of Garafía on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands. The observatory is managed by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, located on the neighboring island of Tenerife. ORM is part of the European Northern Observatory. The construction of the observatory dates back to 1969. The Barbo Observatory in the film is not real. It partially resembles the Gran Telescopio Canarias, which is located near the place where this scene was filmed.
