The scene was filmed at Soho House originated in 1995 in London, when founder Nick Jones opened a members' club above his restaurant Cafe Boheme. Today, Soho House members and Houses exist worldwide. The New York House is located in a former warehouse in the heart of the Meatpacking District. It has 20 bedrooms.

The bar is the only place where Bemelmans' works can be seen in public. Instead of accepting payment for his work, Bemelmans received a year and a half of accommodation at The Carlyle Hotel for himself and his family. The bar is located on the first level of The Carlyle Hotel, which is a luxury residential hotel located on the Upper East Side of New York. The hotel opened in 1930. It was designed in the Art Deco style and named after the Scottish essayist Thomas Carlyle.
