The scene was filmed at Pennan - a small village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, consisting of a tiny harbor and a single row of houses, including a hotel. Pennan appears to have originated as a fishing village in the 18th century. Film enthusiasts come from all over the world to call from the red telephone box that appeared in the film. In fact, the telephone box was originally placed there only as a prop for the film and was later removed, but due to public demand, a real telephone box (+44 (0)1346 6210) was installed a few meters from the original location, which has been a listed building since 1989.
