The scene was filmed at the Cabrini-Green Homes, which included the "Frances Cabrini Rowhouses and William Green Homes", was a public housing project of the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) located in the Near North Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, USA. It was bordered by North Avenue to the north, N Halsted Street to the west, Chicago Avenue to the south, and Larrabee Street to the east. Location manager Nick Rafferty felt that the Cabrini territory was sacred and that it was inscribed in the history of Chicago's Near North Side neighborhood. "There is something ghostly about it, and that's what attracted us. And the first time we came, Jordan turned to us and said, 'We have to go in there,' and that's how our campaign began," Rafferty said.
