The scene was filmed on the Kirchenfeld Bridge, which spans the Aare River in the Swiss city of Bern. It is a large, gray arch bridge running along the edge of the historic part of the city. It suited the film perfectly, as it is gothic-gloomy and very high. A fall from the bridge is definitely fatal.

The scene was filmed at Santa Apolónia, one of the main railway stations in Lisbon and the main departure station for all international rail routes. The station is located east of the city center on a flat piece of land between the Tagus River estuary and the hills of the Alfama district. Santa Apolónia is the oldest station in Lisbon, built in 1865. It was originally conceived as a terminal station connecting European rail routes with cruise liners heading across the Atlantic to America.
