The scene was filmed at San Juan de Ulúa Castle - a large complex of fortresses, prisons, and a former palace on an island of the same name in the Gulf of Mexico, overlooking the seaport of Veracruz, Mexico. The island was named by the expedition of Juan de Grijalva in 1518.

The scene was filmed at Eleventh Avenue is known as West End Avenue between 59th and 107th Streets. Both West End Avenue and Eleventh Avenue are considered part of the same road. In the opening scene of Will Smith's film "Hitch," Smith exits an apartment building at 865 West End Avenue.
