The scene was shot at The Golden Temple, also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib ("abode of God") or Darbar Sahib, is a gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. It is the holiest gurdwara and the most important pilgrimage site in Sikhism. Spiritually, the temple is the most significant shrine in Sikhism. From 1883 to the 1920s, it became the center of the Singh Sabha movement. In the early 1980s, the temple became the center of a conflict between the Indian government led by Indira Gandhi, some Sikh groups, and a militant movement led by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale seeking to create a new state called Khalistan. In 1984, Gandhi sent the Indian army as part of Operation Blue Star, resulting in the deaths of over 1,000 militants, soldiers, and civilians, as well as significant damage to the temple and the destruction of the Akal Takht. After the 1984 destruction, the temple complex was rebuilt.
