Apple TV unexpectedly got a new hit

"Star City", a spin-off of "For All Mankind", has already become the second most-watched series on the platform worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. The premiere took place on May 29 with two episodes at once, and the very next day the show burst into the global Apple TV top, starting from 4th place.

Now Star City holds in Apple TV charts in 98 countries. At the same time, in 18 countries the series already ranks 2nd in viewership, and in the USA it is in 4th place among all shows on the service.

"Star City" develops the universe familiar from "FAM", but shows events from the Soviet side and leans much more into a spy thriller than "pure" science fiction.

It seems the series was also helped by a successful release: the first two episodes of "Star City" came out on the same day as the finale of season 5 of "For All Mankind". But interest is not only due to the connection with the original — the show has 95% from critics and 73% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
