In Canada, a farmer received a photo of a flax supply contract via WhatsApp with a note: "Please confirm the contract."

The farmer replied with a short emoji 👍
He meant that he had simply viewed the message, but the customer understood it as acceptance of the terms for signing.

When the farmer did not deliver the flax, the matter went to court. The judge ruled: in the modern world, an emoji is a valid digital signature. An unconventional but legal way to express agreement under a document.

🧑‍⚖️ The court ordered the farmer to pay 82,000 Canadian dollars in damages.

There is one moral here.
Be careful with emotions when money is involved.
