A basic formula starts with an equal sign (=), followed by operators (+, -, , /) and cell references. For example, to multiply price by quantity, enter =B2C2 and press Enter.

When copying, cell references in the formula change automatically, which is convenient for column calculations. For complex operations, use built-in functions.

If the formula displays as text, check the first character — often the = is forgotten. And when transferring a file, the #NAME? error may occur if the function language does not match. How to fix #NAME? error in Excel after changing computer, we discuss in a separate article.
