Apparently, activists in the "European People's Party (EPP)" have emerged advocating for initiatives like these; for the second day, the entire feed in the banned social network consists of such content.
If anything, this is the largest group in the European Parliament, but they don't have a majority (about a quarter), so for now the initiative probably won't be adopted, but if you suddenly dreamed of seeing Paris/Venice/Barcelona or showing your children the Roman Colosseum, now is the time to think about it.
A single-entry visa is certainly not the five-year multi-visas as before, but there is a non-zero chance of being left without even this option.
In the comments, there are especially many "happy" hoteliers and just ordinary residents from Italy and Greece (and generally southern Europe), while Cypriots ask "what about Turkey and Northern Cyprus?"
And jokes about engineers from Africa.
