Originally, the film was called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and was supposed to focus on Kang the Conqueror as the main antagonist. But after Marvel severed ties with Jonathan Majors due to his legal issues, the studio underwent a radical restructuring.
The solution? Bring back Robert Downey Jr.—but not as Tony Stark, but as Doctor Doom, one of Marvel's greatest villains. This is such an unexpected and bold casting that fans are still debating whether it is genius or suicide for the producers.
According to the official synopsis from the Disney 2026 Merchandise Expo, "Doctor Doom has officially arrived in the MCU. This villain, a master of advanced science and powerful magic, will unleash a cascade crisis across the entire Multiverse."
This description fully matches the comics, where Doom combines genius intellect with mystical abilities, making him particularly dangerous. In the famous comic arc "Secret Wars" (2015), Doom even became God Emperor, controlling what remained of destroyed universes.

Wonder Man

Marvel opens 2026 with the most unexpected project in its history—a meta-film about the making of a superhero movie, where the main character is simultaneously an actor playing a superhero and the superhero himself. If that sounds confusing, welcome to the world of Wonder Man—the most experimental MCU series since WandaVision.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (memorable from Aquaman) plays Simon Williams—a struggling actor desperately trying to land the lead role in a remake of an old superhero film called "Wonder Man." The director of this film-within-a-film is the eccentric recluse Fon Kovac (Zlatko Burić), who emerged from a years-long retreat with a loud statement: "Everyone is tired of superheroes."
Sounds like a direct jab at superhero fatigue? That is exactly the intention. Writer Andrew Guest (Hawkeye, Community) and director Destin Daniel Cretton (future director of Spider-Man: Brand New Day) have created a series that simultaneously deconstructs and celebrates the superhero genre.
As Abdul-Mateen himself admitted, "Wonder Man is not just another show about a man in a suit: 'The series is self-aware but doesn't look directly into the camera. There will be comments about superhero fatigue and such, but for me, that's just the backdrop. The focus of the show is on the actor's journey. On the path of friendship.'"
A key return in the series is Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, the fake Mandarin from Iron Man 3, who later appeared in Shang-Chi. Exactly one year after the triumphant return of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, Charlie Cox puts on the mask again. But while the first season of Born Again was partially assembled from different productions and underwent a creative reboot mid-filming, the second season is a completely new beginning, free from production chaos.
Executive producer Jesse Wigutow directly stated that the second season has a "clarity of vision"—something clearly lacking in its predecessor. Now that showrunner Dario Scardapane has had full control from the start, the series can finally realize its full potential.

The Punisher Special Presentation

Vision Quest
