Movies

The Gorge

Release date: February 14

The lead roles in the new film by Scott Derrickson ("Sinister," "Doctor Strange") will be played by Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy. They will portray assassins in love with each other, hired to guard a gorge that turns out to be a portal to hell. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver.

In 2020, "The Gorge" was included in the "Black List," an annual list of the best unproduced screenplays.

F1

Release date: In theaters from June 27, then available on Apple TV+

The film tells the story of a veteran racer (Brad Pitt) who becomes a mentor to a young teammate (Damson Idris).

In addition to Pitt and Idris, the film features Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, and Tobias Menzies.

Specifically for F1, director Joseph Kosinski ("Oblivion," "Top Gun: Maverick") and his crew developed the smallest mobile 6K camera. This will allow viewers to "be" in the cockpit of a Formula 1 driver. Additionally, the film was shot during real Grand Prix weekends of the racing series.

Love You to Death (A muerte)

A Spanish romantic series tells the story of cautious Raúl (Joan Amargós), who reconnects with free-spirited and recently pregnant Marta (Verónica Echegui) after being diagnosed with heart cancer.

They resume a friendship that began in childhood, and brought together by fate, they begin to test their beliefs about love. Can Marta, who fears commitment, fall in love? And can Raúl meet the love of his life?

Berlin ER

Release date: February 26

Berlin ER (previously known as KRANK Berlin) is a medical drama created by former emergency physician and screenwriter Samuel Jefferson in collaboration with Viktor Yakovlevsky.

Managing the emergency department in Berlin's toughest and most overcrowded hospital is no easy task for young Dr. Parker (Haley Louise Jones), who seeks to start a new life in the capital after a series of setbacks in Munich.

As she tries to implement necessary reforms, Parker faces resistance from the underpaid, poorly equipped, and chronically exhausted hospital staff, who survive only through dark humor. But in the face of an increasingly ruthless healthcare system, the exhausted team must set aside their differences and unite to save lives.

Dope Thief

Release date: March 14

Dope Thief is an eight-episode crime drama created and produced by Oscar nominee Peter Craig ("Top Gun: Maverick") with Oscar nominee Ridley Scott ("Gladiator"), who also directs the first episode, and starring Oscar nominee Brian Tyree Henry ("Bullet Train").

Based on the novel of the same name by Dennis Tafoya, the series follows longtime friends and petty criminals from Philadelphia who pose as DEA agents to rob a remote house in the countryside. By chance, they inadvertently uncover and unravel the largest drug corridor on the East Coast.

In addition to Henry, the series also stars Wagner Moura ("Narcos"), Ving Rhames ("Mission: Impossible"), Kate Mulgrew ("Star Trek: Prodigy"), and others.

The Studio

Release date: March 26

Seth Rogen plays Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of a movie studio. Desperately trying to gain celebrity approval, he and his executive team at Continental Studios must balance corporate demands with creative ambitions, striving to keep films relevant and vibrant.

The new project from the duo Seth Rogen – Evan Goldberg also stars Catherine O'Hara and Kathryn Hahn, with cameos from a host of familiar faces, including Martin Scorsese.

A spin-off of the comedy series "Mythic Quest," this anthology explores the lives of employees, players, and fans affected by the game.

Your Friends & Neighbors

Release date: April 11

Jon Hamm plays Andrew Cooper, a former hedge fund manager who goes to extreme lengths to maintain his lifestyle.

He is joined by Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Lena Hall, Aimee Carrero, Eunice Bae, Isabelle Marie Gravitt, and Donovan Colan.

Apple TV+ is clearly betting big on this series, as it has already been renewed for a second season.

Government Cheese

Release date: April 16

Government Cheese is a surreal comedy set in 1969 in the San Fernando Valley. It follows the Chambers, an eccentric family pursuing lofty, seemingly unattainable dreams, disregarding the realities of the world around them.

When Hampton Chambers (David Oyelowo) is released from prison, his long-awaited reunion with his family does not go as planned. During his absence, Hampton's wife, Astoria, and sons, Einstein and Harrison, have formed an unconventional family, and Hampton's return throws their world into chaos.

Confirmed series currently in filming or post-production and likely to premiere in 2025:

• Chief of War – a historical miniseries starring Jason Momoa. The plot revolves around the turn of the 18th century, when four major kingdoms of the Hawaiian Islands were at war.
• Down Cemetery Road – an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Mick Herron (whose books are also being adapted into Apple TV+'s "Slow Horses"). Sarah Tucker (Ruth Wilson) is obsessed with finding a neighbor's girl who disappeared after an explosion in a quiet Oxford suburb. With the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm, Sarah unexpectedly uncovers a conspiracy: long-dead people are alive, and the living are rapidly dying.
• Firebug – a new series from author Dennis Lehane ("Shutter Island," "Mystic River"). A detective and an arson investigator work together to stop two serial arsonists in the Pacific Northwest. Starring Taron Egerton and Jurni Smollett.
• The Last Frontier – a thriller starring Jason Clarke and Dominic Cooper. A U.S. Marshal on the outskirts of Alaska must protect his town while investigating a plane crash that freed several fugitives now on the loose.
• Murderbot – a sci-fi series from Paul and Chris Weitz starring Alexander Skarsgård. A sentient android calling itself Murderbot must disguise its ability to think freely while carrying out dangerous missions, simultaneously feeling attraction to humans and horror at their vulnerability.
• The Savant – a crime thriller starring Jessica Chastain. Inspired by an article titled "Can a Mass Shooting Be Stopped Before It Happens?" published in Cosmopolitan magazine in August 2019, about a woman nicknamed "The Savant" who infiltrates online hate groups to prevent large-scale public attacks.
