"She's so cool," says Lyonya (Lev Zulkarnaev), looking at an adult film actress at Artyom's ( ), who volunteered to look after his autistic neighbor. He did this to prove to his girlfriend that he can take responsibility like an adult. A series of comical situations, and now Lyonya is insisting on going to St. Petersburg to see that girl, and Artyom has no choice but to agree to this adventure.
Russian cinema is undergoing an active generational shift, with new names and faces emerging that are worth following now.

Along the way, they are joined by Artyom's friends, who, as they think, killed the suddenly appearing father of one of the guys. In this lineup, they leave their hometown and will likely go through the entire journey of coming-of-age story heroes.
At the 6th series festival "Pilot," where streaming services and TV channels showcase pilot episodes of their new shows, "She's So Cool" attracted attention with its light and dynamic story (road movies are still not the most frequent guests in our parts) and the bright performance of Lev Zulkarnaev. For his role as a young man with autism spectrum disorder, he received the award for "Best Actor." And even from the debut episode, it's clear why.
According to Lev himself, while preparing for the role, he volunteered and carefully observed the wards of foundations to note their reactions to different actions and events. His portrayal of the clever and curious Lyonya (he constantly talks about what he read on the Internet) can safely be added to the ranks of memorable "special" screen characters, among them Dustin Hoffman from "Rain Man," Freddie Highmore from "The Good Doctor," Keir Gilchrist from "Atypical," etc. He looks painfully convincing and authentic in his role.
As for the story itself, it is the presence of inclusive motifs that makes it more interesting than it actually is.
The setup of "She's So Cool" in many ways echoes the domestic indie hit "The Whaleboy", where the main character also falls in love with a porn star and dreams of meeting her.
In the pilot, stereotypical characters are sketched in broad strokes – from the main hero, a classic slacker with an infantile character, to the mother with hyperprotective syndrome (albeit for an understandable reason). Through this recognizability of types, the authors probably want to achieve a sense of involvement from the audience. And since it's obvious that the series aims for popular hits (yard motifs from the first seconds, rural setting – such elements will only fail to resonate with those who have never lived in Russia), this is a smart script move.
Thus, "She's So Cool" is a well-made road movie with great acting performances, taking on the mission of entertaining viewers with adventures while simultaneously highlighting an important societal topic that is not usually discussed. And at the start, it does this quite well.
The exclusive premiere of the series will take place on August 1 on the KION online cinema.
