From lobotomy to BDSM in a cave – here is a selection of episodes from the new season of The Boys that are amazing in their madness.
The final episode of the new season of The Boys has been released on Amazon Prime — a brutal action satire from Eric Kripke about superheroes who are actually villains.
Season 4 was initially met with mixed reactions from the audience, as evidenced by the less-than-stellar ratings of the first episodes on aggregators like IMDB. However, closer to the finale, the series picked up pace, and the final episode itself turned out to be incredibly epic, albeit not as grand as it could have been.
In this article, we will discuss the significantly increased level of absurdity and brutality compared to previous seasons. The concentration of provocative and even boundary-pushing moments in the new Amazon release is very high. We suggest refreshing your memory (see for yourself if you need to!) of the unforgettable scenes from the new season of The Boys.

10. Children's Show Encourages Snitching ("The Insider")
Throughout the season, Homelander (Antony Starr), backed by Sage (Susan Heyward) and Vice President Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), prepares to stage a coup to seize power, and for this he tests the waters.
To determine the number of those who would become potential opponents of his future dictatorship and should be interned, he approves a children's show on the V7 Kids channel (obviously referencing Sesame Street and the Muppets), in which puppet characters urge children to inform on their parents and teachers if they sympathize with Starlighters and Antifa.

9. The Deep Performs a Lobotomy on Sage ("Wisdom of the Ages")
The Deep (Chace Crawford) is a smug and vain character who cannot boast of his mental abilities. In Season 4, he finds himself at the center of a love triangle with the octopus Ambrosius (Tilda Swinton) and the new supe in the Seven, Sister Sage. The latter is famous for her intellect. To take a break from her constantly working brain at full capacity, she asks the local version of Aquaman to perform a small surgical operation on her. This scene looks more comical, but may shock some with its naturalism.
8. Frenchie Saves Kimiko ("The Insider")
Another scene capable of stunning with its naturalism.
The captured scientist named Sameer (Omid Abtahi), whose leg Butcher (Karl Urban) cut off, is working on a virus designed to take down Homelander, under the supervision of Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Frenchie (Tomer Capone). He manages to escape, but not before injecting the silent superheroine with a serum. Frenchie realizes there is no time to waste, as the virus is lethal to supes, and decides to amputate Kimiko's leg. Meanwhile, she tightly clutches a children's bee toy. And all this is set to a 90s pop hit — Steal My Sunshine.
Fortunately, for Karen Fukuhara's character, losing a leg is not such a big problem, as she possesses super-fast regeneration.
7. Doctor Sameer's Farm ("Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son")
Sameer's capture was preceded by a battle with domestic animals, in whose blood the ill-fated Compound V was found.
Part of the team, led by Butcher, along with former Vought head Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) taken from prison, arrive at a farm where Doctor Sameer was experimenting on hamsters. One of them escaped and spread the infection around the area, causing all the animals to gain superpowers. Chickens, for example, became so durable that even bullets cannot penetrate them, and sheep turned carnivorous and learned to fly. This hilariously funny storyline from the fifth episode is perfectly complemented by Edgar's sarcastic comments, as well as frequent squabbles between Butcher, Starlight, and Victoria. The episode ends with the children's song Old MacDonald Had a Farm.
6. Hughie's Father Wreaks Havoc in the Hospital ("Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son")
However, in the same fifth episode, there is another storyline, equally bloody but much more dramatic. It involves Hughie's father, played by Simon Pegg. Daphne, Hughie's mother, injected him with a dose of Compound V, thereby saving him from death. The blue liquid granted him the ability to teleport, including passing through living and non-living matter, but due to his illness and senile dementia, he cannot control it, inadvertently killing hospital staff and patients. He does not recognize Hughie (Jack Quaid) as his son, as he is struck by a sudden attack of amnesia, returning his memory to the time when his son was a teenager. This madness ends with the death of Simon Pegg's character. Hughie confesses to his father that he has always been his hero.
5. Butcher Sabotages the Deal with Neuman ("Assassination Run")
Throughout the season, Vice President Neuman hesitated about joining Homelander's coalition. However, in the final episode, after a failed assassination attempt on President Singer, she accepts Hughie's offer, fearing for her daughter Zoe. But right during the negotiation of the deal's terms, Butcher bursts into the room and, using his superpowers, executes Victoria, tearing her body in half, in front of the astonished Boys. As it turns out later, Butcher, unwittingly, played into Sage's plan and contributed to Homelander's rise to power.
4. Homelander Kills Webweaver ("The Insider")
With each new season, it becomes more obvious that Homelander and Butcher represent a dual pair. A peculiar confirmation of this can be that Antony Starr's character disposed of Webweaver in a similar manner — tearing him in half, albeit vertically. This senseless execution is preceded by a ridiculous, befitting the character himself, interrogation scene, during which the latter uncontrollably and profusely secretes webs.
Such toilet humor seems somewhat out of place in the context of the more mature and thoughtful storyline of the fourth season. But we are already used to the fact that The Boys is a kind of roller coaster, where such things coexist with political satire and brutal action.
3. BDSM in Tek Knight's Cave ("Dirty Business")
Another absolutely wild scene from the fourth season is indirectly related to Webweaver. He agrees to lend his costume in exchange for a favor, so that Hughie can infiltrate a closed party of the far-right US elite, organized by Tek Knight ( Derek Wilson ), a local version with a penchant for sadomasochistic perversions. The unsuspecting Hughie finds himself drawn into such extraordinary entertainment. Vought's PR manager Ashley ( Colby Minifie ) also participates in this mess as a dominatrix.

2. The Sauna Scene and Subsequent Battle ("Life Among the Species")
Undoubtedly, the pinnacle of shock humor in the new season of The Boys is the sauna scene from the second episode. I will refrain from describing this subtle reference to the cult film The Human Centipede. Equally notable is the battle that follows. The protagonist team has to fight a supe whose main ability is creating clones.
Ironically, all this takes place at a convention of conspiracy theory enthusiasts, in the same building as a Jewish party. The intense action set to Hava Nagila involving dozens of completely naked clones is the gem of the season, a concentrated mixture of trash and pamphlet. But there is one more scene that managed to surpass all the above in brutality.
1. Homelander Has Fun in the Laboratory ("Wisdom of the Ages")
Without a doubt, the most frightening and at the same time the most brilliant scene of the new season is the one where Homelander decides to visit old acquaintances in the laboratory where he grew up. They are clearly not happy about the unexpected visit of their protégé. The super-psychopath, as it may initially seem, arrives with good intentions, even bringing an ice cream cake. But the poor scientists have no idea what entertainment the hero of Antony Starr has in store for them as a dessert.
Perhaps there is no point in listing everything Homelander did in the laboratory — it is better to see it once. Driven by a sense of revenge and a craving for sadistic pleasure, he shows himself not only from the position of the strong but also from the position of the weak, a broken child who was deprived of childhood and raised like a laboratory rat.
Nevertheless, this scene, and indeed the entire fourth season, fundamentally change the perception of the show's main antagonist. If earlier Homelander was perceived as a charming and charismatic egocentric, believing in his exclusivity and ready to do anything to maintain audience loyalty, now he is nothing less than a cruel maniac who has abandoned the pursuit of finding love and family.
We will find out how the Boys will fight Homelander's super-dictatorship no earlier than 2026. Filming for the final fifth season is scheduled to start in November of this year. Based on the results of the fourth season, we can safely say that the madness and permissiveness of the creators never ceases to amaze and only progresses over the years!
