From July 25 to 28, 2024, the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, will host the III International Festival Comic Con Astana 2024. Comic Con Astana is a festival dedicated to the comic book, film, video game, anime, and other modern popular culture industries.

In 2024, the large-scale event will again feature international studios, producers, popular bloggers, and professional cosplay artists.

The organizers of the Comic Con Astana festival have announced the first star headliner: Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, known worldwide for the series "Hannibal" and films such as "Doctor Strange," "Casino Royale," "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny."

The festival program will include meetings and autograph sessions, premieres, special screenings and presentations, cosplay shows, a comic book alley, performances by musical artists and dance groups. Global studios will present their own interactive entertainment booths at the festival venue.

A traditional element of the festival's show program will be an international cosplay competition with a prize fund of 12,000,000 KZT. The cosplay competition jury includes talented cosplayer from Denmark and costume master Trine, multiple winner of international championships, cosplayer from France Cinderys.

"We tried to enhance and extend all the key features of the festival - this year Comic Con Astana will last 4 days instead of 3, as before. Therefore, the venue moves from the Congress Center to the International Exhibition Center 'EXPO'. We expect around 100,000 visits over the festival days. Overall, our fantastic invasion continues and promises to be even more grandiose!" commented Natalya Abrashkina, General Producer of the festival.

At Comic Con Astana 2024, the participation of Hollywood celebrities is again expected.

For example, in 2019, the festival's headliner was Pilou Asbæk, who played Euron Greyjoy in the series "Game of Thrones." In 2023, the headliners were stars of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Avengers: Endgame" Sean Gunn and Michael Rooker, as well as actor from the film "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" Alexander Kuznetsov.

Who to Expect in 2024?

Special guests of the festival include video bloggers Chuck Review, Anastasiz, and Yan Toples, voice actors Vsevolod Kuznetsov, Petr Glants, Islam Gandzhaev, Egor Vasiliev, and illustrator Djuney (Djuney9).

A pleasant surprise for fans of "The Witcher" will be the participation of popular Geralt cosplayer Ben Shamma from Germany, known as Maul Cosplay.

Another special guest will be Saikono Joker – an artist, producer, and author of the idea for the computer game "Zaychik," made in the genres of visual novel and survival horror.

The convention will also be visited by Prince Lemon and Akonya - founders and official voices of the popular studio SoftBox, which specializes in translating and dubbing dramas and Korean films. Prince Lemon and Akonya are a married couple from Kazakhstan, talented voice actors Yuri and Aruna Kim.

• A lecture hall featuring talks and masterclasses from renowned domestic and foreign authors of books and comics, bloggers, actors, artists, and other popular culture figures.
