Some theories are plausible, some are crazy. What could season 2 of House of the Dragon be like?
On June 16, we will see the continuation of the saga of the Targaryen civil war, as House of the Dragon in its second season will increasingly focus on the legendary Dance of the Dragons. The sides will gain allies, more dragons and battles are promised on screen, and fans are free to build theories. And we are not talking about canonical events from the books; rather, it's about changes to the book plot. Some theories are plausible, some are crazy. But it has already been shown that the showrunners do not intend to strictly follow the source material.
We recall and discuss what we saw in the tenth episode of House of the Dragon: Rhaenyra and Daemon's response to Alicent's actions, the unexpected comeback of one of the heroes, and the cut-off...
Open materialRhaenyra will participate in battle (or battles)
In the canon, it is known that Rhaenyra herself never flew into battle or fought in the war. But both the trailers and the character's storyline in the series already suggest that Rhaenyra will be sent to the front, or rather, she will go herself. Daemon Targaryen will not be the only military leader who will surprise us as a dragonrider.
Laenor Velaryon will return
The runaway husband for whom the book canon was changed. If he wasn't killed after all, he will clearly spoil the picture of the Targaryens' happy married life. Or he could be an interesting advantage for one of the queens in the battle for the throne.
Maesters are pitting Targaryens against each other
We are all familiar with the great maesters at the kings and their main friends – the masters of whisperers. It is assumed that just as Pycelle played his role in the intrigues of Game of Thrones, so will Mellos or someone else actively use manipulation and conspiracies. Civil war is a perfect opportunity for them to interfere with the Targaryen line. And in general, it would be cool if events worsen thanks to a third party.
Jacaerys Velaryon and Cregan Stark will go beyond the Wall
For unknown reasons, perhaps during his mission in the North, Rhaenyra's firstborn will go beyond the Wall with Stark. And maybe even meet the Walkers? Who knows.
Daemon is playing the long game
Perhaps the most unpredictable and mysterious character in the series. His reckless actions may still play a role. It is possible that he still harbors hope of sitting on the Iron Throne. We should pay attention to his future alliances with characters. And to his arguments (and there will be many) with Rhaenyra.
Daemyra will not be ruined
The pairing of characters has gained many fans, and in the book, Daemon has too many 'fans' on the side. He cheated on Rhaenyra more than once. It is suspected that in the series, they will make him more faithful to his wife.
Helaena's prophetic dreams
We have already been given hints that Helaena possesses some power. In her dialogues and phrases, there were glimpses of certain events. It is believed that Helaena, like Daenerys, may be a seer.
Daeron Targaryen
The son who for some reason was not shown in season 1. The fourth child of Alicent and Viserys. Prince Daeron Targaryen, nicknamed the Daring, was described in the book as the most beautiful, beloved, and sweet child.
The role of the Starks will be great
The love of Game of Thrones fans for the Starks cannot be measured, but it can be said that this is one of the favorite families. Rhaenyra already mentioned that the Starks never forgot their oath. We expect more screen time for the Kings of the North. And for the queen's eldest son.
Someone else (not Daemon) will avenge Lucerys's death
We know exactly how it happened in the canon. But what if the creators of the series decide to change the outcome of the battle between Daemon and Aemond? And in the end, Aemond is killed by, for example, Rhaena.
Aegon is not the father of his children
Viewers believe that the father of Helaena's children in the series could be made... Aemond. Because Aegon found such a union repulsive, and Aemond was happy to preserve the bloodline.
Sex will happen! Between Alicent and Cole
Apparently, the 'knight' has good taste in queens.
Opening
It is said that in season 2, it will change from blood flowing through the stones of Valyria to a woven tapestry depicting the history of House Targaryen.
Lucerys is alive!
This is unlikely. Well, we would estimate the chances at 0.1%. But a theory is a theory. Fans believe that no body means no death. Perhaps he somehow survived the fall.
