We arrange the series by release date. No ratings or scores. Everyone here is great.
First, let's note the series that started last year but whose final episodes were released in 2024.
« Alice's Dreams »
At the beginning of the year, we continued to delve into the mysticism of Russian forests and tried to understand what force dwells there. Stylish, charismatic, sometimes scary, but mostly incomprehensible. But it is this ambiguity that attracts in «Alice's Dreams». A definite like.
« Kesha Must Die »
Watching the trailer, one might get the impression that this is a sexual drama, trying to figure out who is sleeping with whom and how. However, in reality, the viewer is presented with a subtle psychological drama, where the viewer assembles a puzzle of fascinating elements from several lives intertwined. And the excellent cast is an additional plus to the series' karma.
And now directly to the new releases of this year.
« Charm » (January 2024)
«Charm» is a series with a star cast, based on the classic story of revenge of the Count of Monte Cristo. It presents reflections on the theme that everything in our life has a price, and the time will come to answer for all actions. And whether you will be ready for it or not depends only on you.
« Golden Bottom » (January 2024)
In short, this is a series about stylish family feuds over the wine business. Beautiful visuals, intrigue, tears, and relentless struggle are the elements on which «Golden Bottom» is built.
Unlike similar projects like «The Kept Women» and «Live Life», this series is more focused on resolving market and business situations, which attracts viewers interested in such topics more than lyrical relationships.
« The Others » (January 2024)
If you look closely at the projects in this list, you will notice that almost all of them take place in modern times. But sometimes you want to get into a fairy tale! Even a dark one. A bit of mysticism, magic, and superpowers, plus a pinch of steampunk, and voila – the series «The Others».
Interestingly, after the first season, the project's status is «on pause», so we'll see what happens next and whether to expect a continuation.
« Prestige » (February 2024)
The events of «Prestige» take place in a small town where the cream of society lives. Suddenly, in the midst of this idyll, a murder occurs, and the measured life turns into chaos. Intrigue, a fair amount of humor, a decent detective story, and an unexpected denouement – these are the components that made up the stylish project of the START platform.
« Inside the Killer » (February 2024)
An interesting attempt to adapt the novel by Mike Omer with the events moved to St. Petersburg. The story of a maniac, the work of a profiler, the signature style of Vladimir Mirzoev. If the characters had spent less time trying to figure out themselves and their past and more time investigating the case, the project would have been priceless.
«The Shadow of Chikatilo» (April 2024)
The works of the Andreasyan brothers regularly raise doubts and more often end up in anti-ratings than in tops. But this particular series turned out to be worthy.
The story of the Angarsk maniac makes you watch episode after episode in the desire to find out what the denouement will be. And all thanks to what? Of course, thanks to the acting of Fyodor Lavrov, whose mere smile makes you feel creepy.
«Mutual Consent» (April 2024)
This is a continuation of the sensational series by Valeria Gai Germanika, but since the story in the second season is new, we will consider it an independent project. «Mutual Consent» presents a fresh perspective on the problems of domestic violence with an abundance of different opinions and attempts to find a way out.
The only downside is that the series underwent serious editing, due to which many scenes were cut because they turned out to be too violent. For this reason, the narrative turned out to be a bit crumpled.
«I Know Who Killed You» (May 2024)
Of all the projects listed, this series hooked me the most. A tragic story in which there are no right or wrong. Because sometimes fate takes the most bizarre turn. Here you can hate the character of Alexander Yatsenko, who kidnaps a small child, from the very first frame, but then also feel sorry for him.
Note that the series is based on the novel «Eva» by Lyubov Barinova and treats the literary source very carefully.
« Kalimba » (May 2024)
Over eight episodes, the viewer watches a brutal psychological experiment where crime victims come face to face with their offenders. But besides trying to work through their traumas, the characters also face the impossibility of escaping their «shelter», which at times turns the series into a solid hermetic thriller.
