In April, the series "Point Zero" was released on the online platform IVI—another reinterpretation of the pandemic that gripped the world in 2020. Read about how the project turned out in our article.

The main character of the series "Point Zero" Anna Markova (Marina Alexandrova) is an experienced virologist. She leaves Moscow for a research center in Novosibirsk to change jobs and escape psychological problems. Anna does not like to talk about them or her personal life, so in her new place she instantly becomes a black sheep and a topic of discussion among her new colleagues.

Anna Markova's intriguing past reaches the viewer through unanswered messages from a woman to a little girl—possibly her daughter. Anna records voice messages to her as if into a personal diary. These recordings help Markova not to lose her mind and somehow endure a reality full of pain and experiences that the viewer can only guess about.

In her new place, Anna immediately gets a chance to prove herself: an unknown and very aggressive virus is discovered in a neighboring village. The heroine of Alexandrova immediately heads to the epicenter of the new disease outbreak, where she will have to face the wild ignorance of the locals, their denial of any problems, and unwillingness to accept any help from anyone, especially outsiders.

"Point Zero" vividly illustrates human carelessness and the lack of any literacy in matters concerning one's own health. The villagers trust a local fortune teller but do not trust medical professionals. For all troubles, they have one answer: strong alcohol.

Anna Markova is a bright heroine, one might even say an iron lady, who has to fight alone not only against the virus but also against human stupidity. The latter, as we know, causes more deaths than any plague.

Marina Alexandrova does an excellent job with the difficult role of a woman deeply burdened by guilt. Trying to hide from it in a remote village, she will need to gather all her strength and will to reason with people who do not believe in evidence-based medicine and are on the brink of a huge tragedy.

Anna's trembling voice of desperation will eventually be heard, but it is unknown at what cost the villagers will manage to defeat the virus.
