It’s always nice when your favorite musician becomes part of a film or series, leaving a mark on cinema. We invite you to recall bright cameos of performers in movies.

Kiss – “Why Him?”

“It’s Gene and Paul! Gene and Paul! Gene and Paul! We have Kiss in the yard!”

The 2016 comedy “Why Him?” tells the story of the Fleming family meeting their daughter’s eccentric boyfriend – millionaire Laird Mayhew. The plot centers on the confrontation between the girl’s conservative father and her young man, a representative of the modern progressive generation.

The film frequently mentions the story of the protagonist’s parents’ first date, which took place at a Kiss concert. Realizing that the Flemings are fans of the rock band, Laird brings Gene and Paul to their home as a peace offering.

The unfinished “I Was Made for Lovin’ You”, the pigeon mishap, and the rejected marriage proposal did not deprive the story’s finale of its charming comedic quality. Gene and Paul not only appear in all their glory before the viewer but also get a delicious dinner, and the date storyline is summed up in a dialogue between the band and the Flemings:

– Did she give it to you?

– Just a handjob…

Daft Punk – “Tron: Legacy”

The Daft Punk soundtrack for the sequel to “Tron” can still be heard in music lovers’ playlists 13 years after the film’s release. And you don’t have to be a fan of the film for that. However, if you dig into the history of the compositions, it turns out that the musical style of the original 1982 film was used as a basis. The viewer got not only an intuitive and meaningful continuation of the long-standing story but also high-quality compositions consisting of instrumental and electronic music.

But the work on the soundtrack, while confirming the band’s incredible meticulousness, would not have been as complete without their personal appearance in the film. Fortunately, the band’s stage image perfectly matches the visual concept of the “Tron” world, so Daft Punk appear there as DJs at the local club “End of Line” in their famous look.

Imagine Dragons – “Arcane”

Imagine Dragons regularly record soundtracks for various films. The band’s genre range varies from teen movies and animated films to high-budget blockbusters.

The band also showed interest in games, recording the song Warriors for the League of Legends championship. But the connection with the game did not end there, because for the first season of the series “Arcane” (we wrote about it in ), based on the game, Imagine Dragons recorded the instantly popular composition Enemy. And if Warriors was performed live by the band at the championship opening, for Enemy they appear in full lineup directly in the series. In the fifth episode of the first season, the “dragons” drawn in the series’ style can be seen on the club stage during a performance.

The Blanks – “Scrubs”

The comedy series “Scrubs” not only delighted viewers with an excellent cast and situational jokes but also with its musical component. In addition to the hugely popular theme song and well-chosen background music, viewers were periodically treated to songs by the cover band The Blanks – also known as “Ted’s Band.” In the series, the group is made up of hospital employees, with the failed lawyer as the lead singer and founder. The original The Blanks, performing in the a cappella genre, appear on screen quite often, usually describing comical situations with their compositions.

Ed Sheeran – “Bridget Jones’s Baby”

Bridget Jones is no longer a young girl but a woman with good habits and a decent job, but that doesn’t stop the still-lonely heroine from partying at a festival with a colleague. There, the overly “relaxed” friends embarrass themselves by not recognizing Ed Sheeran as a celebrity. But don’t worry, the singer not only gets his moment of fame by performing his song for fans on both sides of the screen but also rides in an inflatable ball with Bridget’s friend, who realizes her mistake.

Alessandro Safina – “The Clone”

Even those unfamiliar with the work of Italian tenor Alessandro Safina have heard his most famous composition Luna Tu at least once. In the early 2000s, the song became so popular that the creators of the Brazilian series “The Clone” made it a constant soundtrack accompanying one of the love stories throughout the series. Soon, the performer made a cameo. The most famous episode is where Alessandro performs the song for the character Yvete, whose relationship was marked by this composition.

Chaif – “Radio Day”

One could endlessly list the performers who appeared in the film by Kvartet I, but we’ll highlight those who not only sang fragmentarily on air but got a whole storyline – “Chaif.” Having endured a multi-hour flight to Moscow, “aged” in a typical Moscow traffic jam, lost in a rapidly rebuilding city, and ultimately stuck in the radio station’s elevator, the band created perhaps the most intimate and cozy moment of the entire film with an acoustic performance of a song.

Alice Cooper – “Dark Shadows”

“I’ve never seen an uglier woman!”

The director from another world is no stranger to performers of a similar spirit. So it’s no surprise that Tim Burton’s teenage characters dream of seeing not Justin Bieber at a party but Alice Cooper! It’s a case where the inner worlds of the director, the singer, and the film perfectly aligned, and the viewer sees Alice Cooper pouring his voice across the walls of a gloomy mansion.
