On September 15, a cool event happened in the world of geek culture: Plus Studio talked about future premieres. The team showed not only trailers and footage of new films and series, but also shared details about projects that viewers have been waiting for a long time.
But besides the fact that the Kinopoisk team rolled out their cinematic batmobile, we had a front-row ticket to learn the details of the online cinema and studio's plans for the near future. Ready to find out what content they are going to release? What are the team's ambitions in the Kazakhstan market? How to become part of the service team? At the recent Comic Con in Astana, Alik Kemalov, head of social media for the Kinopoisk online cinema, answered all these questions.
On Positioning and Local Content
Kinopoisk is an online cinema for a wide audience. Most of our projects are homey, cool, cozy, entertaining content, as well as genre stories for every taste. We try to cover the widest possible range of viewers, so that the content is interesting to all family members, with different interests and different ages.
At the initial stage of developing the original content of the online cinema, users thought that Kinopoisk was just a database of films and media that writes about movies. Our platform has actively developed and continues to improve, and now we are much broader than a movie database. An online cinema has been added to the media and constantly updated encyclopedia, and we focus on what is interesting to our regular readers and streaming viewers.
At a recent presentation, we presented many big and promising projects, including those with an emphasis on science fiction and fantasy. From the editorial side, we see great viewer interest in these genres.
For quite some time, we have been observing a growing interest in local content. Today, the Kinopoisk library contains a huge number of films and series of excellent quality. And the place of production of the film is not as important as its content, because everyone wants to watch quality content.
We also note a growing interest in anime. And it will only increase. The answer to the question about popularity: we are waiting with the whole world for the finale of the season of "Attack on Titan" exclusively on Kinopoisk.
On Plans in Kazakhstan and How to Become a Kinopoisk Author
Currently, the team that deals only with social media has six people. But in addition to this, we work with a team of authors from Kazakhstan: there are not many of them yet, but we want to scale this story. This way, we can write even more about cinema in Kazakhstan, because local authors understand both the market and what is happening here better.
If you want to become an author, just write to us at: news@kinopoisk.ru.
Now, film reviews are being replaced by quick reactions on social media in the format of stories, reviews, reels. But we try to interact with the audience in different ways, including supporting the direction of reviews.
In the future, we plan to more actively develop an author's perspective on local films in Kazakhstan. We also want to write more in the Kazakh language and interact with a larger audience.
In addition, Plus Dacha is now operating in Almaty, where we hold various events. To get to the event, you need to be a Plus subscriber. So, keep an eye on the events.

If I were to cosplay someone at Comic Con, I would choose the Pandaren character from World of Warcraft.
