On September 6, Alexander Baluev's directorial debut was released on the Wink service. We tell you what the film "Hotel" turned out to be.

The film was based on the play “His Don Juan List” by Valentin Krasnogorov. This is the directorial debut of Alexander Baluev, who also played the main role of the strange owner of a semi-abandoned hotel.

A newlywed couple, setting off on a journey, encounters an old hotel on their way that seems to have been out of business for a long time. In this scene, one can immediately notice a difference of opinion regarding stopping at such an unusual and unappealing place. Already at this stage, it becomes clear that the spouses may not have everything smooth in their personal lives.

The owner, who has no name, does not immediately show himself to the young people, but he has plenty of secrets without that.

All the action takes place in the hotel, which symbolizes the chaos in the Owner’s head, and the husband and wife become witnesses to his love memories — what else is left when there are no other entertainments. The hall with a wide dining table becomes a stage where the conflict unfolds between the Owner and the spouses, and between the wife and husband, because each of them has something to hide.

In essence, this is a play that was decided to be transferred to the screen. The woman here shines in an evening dress with an open back and shares her unpleasant secret with the Owner, not with her husband. And the hotel owner immerses himself in his past youth and past loves and forces the audience and his unexpected guests to immerse themselves in the past along with him.

All these beautiful but unhappy memories awaken in the characters their own long-forgotten moments, which at times were filled with pain and rejection. And from this could have come a poetic statement, but it turned out to be some kind of strange, like the Owner himself, narrative about a lost past.
