On August 28, the online cinema Okko held a presentation where it showed teasers of new releases for the upcoming season.
A grand social event took place at the Oktyabr cinema center, while the party itself was private. Okko invited famous actors, directors, and producers who are in one way or another involved in the production of new content.
Sergey Shishkin, CEO of Okko, reported a 21.8% increase in subscribers since the beginning of the year, as well as a 24% rise in those willing to pay for the service subscription. Additionally, Sergey delighted with the news of the online cinema app's return to the App Store.
Okko's original content producer Gavriil Gordeev shared plans for creating new projects that will soon be available in the lineup of original productions.
We will tell you about the most interesting series, in our opinion, that are planned for release in the new season.
«Ministry of All Good Things»
A fantasy comedy directed by Alexander Fomin, featuring Anastasia Ivleeva, Vlad Prokhorov, Nikolai Fomenko, Liza Ishchenko, Alexandra Kiselyova and others. It turns out that all requests are fulfilled by two heavenly ministries: the good ones by the Ministry of All Good Things, and the bad ones, accordingly, by the Ministry of All Bad Things.
«The Magic Precinct»
Another fairy-tale story with well-known characters: Baba Yaga, Koschei, and other familiar evil spirits. The main roles are played by Eva Smirnova and Nikolai Naumov, Filipp Yankovsky, Tatyana Dogileva, Daria Melnikova, Alexei Zolotovitsky. The director is Stepan Gordeev.
«Black Cloud»
A dramatic thriller starring Maria Matsel. Her character Olya often hears the question "Why are you so angry?" (which, by the way, was the project's earlier title). She literally wishes death upon everyone who annoys her, and then each such person mysteriously dies. The director's chair is occupied by Karen Oganesyan, and her on-screen partners include Filipp Yankovsky, Maryana Spivak, Angelina Pakhomova, Yuri Kolokolnikov.
«The Obvious and the Incredible»
Another comedy with elements of science fiction, based on the book by Kir Bulychev. The plot is set in an alternative future where civilizations from other planets and worlds intersect in a single city, Veliky Guslyar. The main characters are played by Svetlana Khodchenkova, Maxim Lagashkin and Artyom Bystrov. The series is directed by Alexander Voitinsky.
It might seem that the focus is exclusively on "magical" content, but in fact, other interesting projects were also presented.
«Ira»
A dramedy about a headstrong 30-year-old Muscovite (Ingrid Olerinskaya) who breaks the fourth wall and speaks quite directly and frankly about everything that concerns her. The series also stars Maxim Stoyanov, Grigory Kalinin, Andrei Fedortsov and others.
«Mammoths»
A comedy starring Yuri Stoyanov, who plays Nikolai Nikolaevich, a pensioner deceived by scammers. The project promises to be very touching and cozy, as it is directed by Ivan Sosnin.
«Sex Before... and After»
The directorial debut of Daria Moroz. This is a series of novellas about the most diverse relationships between characters, leading to unexpected events. The main roles are played by Angelina Pakhomova, Igor Mirkurbanov, Anna Snatkina and others.
«Last Quest»
Another directorial debut. This time, Pyotr Fyodorov decided not only to play the lead role but also to try his hand at directing. The project grew out of the eponymous 2019 short film.
Also included in the lineup of new releases are «The Reckless» by Yuri Bykov, «KALIMBA», «The Route», «Mile» and sequels to the series «Open Marriage», «Offline», «Samsara», «The Survivors», «Manyunya», «Chikatilo».
Okko plans to release 25 series per year, which averages out to 2 premieres per month. Support for emerging authors is also planned: these include "Five Okko Pilots," "The Bear Cub," and collaboration with the Moscow Film School.
