In the second episode of 'Drops of God,' Camille's backstory and her unusual relationship with her father are explored.
In an episode titled 'Sky, Earth, People,' our two rivals go to work in different countries. Camille (Fleur Geffrier) studies with an oenology teacher in France, while Issei (Tomohisa Yamashita) tries to build his own business in Tokyo.

Studying Oenology
The episode opens with a flashback in which young Camille drinks a glass of wine and instantly loses consciousness. She is rushed to the hospital with a nosebleed. Her mother, Marianne, is upset and argues with her husband Alexandre, who allowed their daughter to drink at such a young age.
In the present, Camille is taken to the vineyard of Philippe (Gustave Kervern), where she will undergo training. Philippe meets the girl at his home, but he is extremely unfriendly, irritated that she is interfering with his work during the harvest.
Philippe informs her that he will not be the one teaching her, but rather his son. Thus, a new character is introduced into the plot – Thomas.
Who is Thomas?
Camille meets Philippe's son, Thomas Chassangre (Tom Wozniczka), an oenology teacher. He gives her a tour of the vineyard, talking about their shared childhood. Camille used to come to the vineyard for holidays, and Thomas had to take care of her. The girl is embarrassed by how awful she was in her youth and that she remembers almost nothing about it.
Thomas plans to teach Camille everything she needs to know about wine and wine tasting. According to the competition rules, they have three weeks to turn her into an expert. And then Camille confesses that she cannot drink alcohol without losing consciousness. As you can imagine, this is quite inconvenient given the current circumstances.
They discuss the problem with Philippe. He explains that Alexandre called him a month ago and asked him to train Camille to improve (!) her knowledge, and she can't even drink. He is skeptical but still decides to help her to keep a promise made to an old friend.
What's Happening in Tokyo?
Meanwhile, Issei is trying to start his own business. He goes for an interview for a position as an oenology consultant and receives a glowing recommendation from Alexandre Léger himself, which he sent before his death. He is asked to take a blind wine taste test.
Issei passes the test successfully, identifying the wine's characteristics by smell alone. Yes, without even tasting it.
Issei's grandfather, a wealthy and influential man, learns of his grandson's involvement in this venture and asks his daughter Honoka to put an end to this nonsense before it ruins the family's reputation.
Issei does not get the consultant job, and his grandfather orders him to withdraw from the competition. He also wants him to stop his wine-related activities altogether. Issei agrees.
Why Does Camille Constantly Have Nosebleeds?
Back in France, Camille undergoes an MRI and an examination by a specialist. Together, they want to understand why the girl reacts poorly to alcohol.
The doctor states that Camille has excellent taste skills, but her taste memories are associated with disgust and fear.
The doctor believes that the girl's nosebleeds and fainting spells are linked to a trauma she experienced in her youth. This trauma is related to taste and triggers negative reactions. When Camille consumes alcohol, it evokes traumatic memories, provoking such physical reactions.
Camille decides to return home and says goodbye to Philippe. He continues to be rude to her. The girl argues with her father's old friend. Philippe says that Alexandre adored Camille and that it pained him when he could no longer talk to his daughter.
Philippe mentions a terrible letter that Camille sent to Alexandre many years ago.
However, the letter turns out to be a forgery written by Camille's mother. The girl confronts her mother, who has recently arrived in France, and orders her to leave. Now she is more determined than ever to win the competition. To overcome her obstacle of nosebleeds and fainting, Camille decides to train using only her sense of smell!
How Does Camille Remember Smells?
Thomas trains the girl, restoring her excellent sense of smell. Camille is blindfolded again and given 54 (!) aromas that she must identify. At first, she struggles, but soon she remembers her training with Alexandre. He told her to classify and store smells in her memory. She unlocks these memories and successfully names all 54 aromas in the present. At the same time, she figures out the first ingredient from the wine she drank in the first stage of the competition – fern.
After two weeks of training, Camille achieves excellent results, but it is still not enough. She has memories of that initial scene when she first drank wine. It becomes clear that Alexandre did not allow her to drink whole glasses of wine, but limited her to drops from a pipette.
In the end, she drinks wine from a glass in the present and is surprised at how pleasant it tastes. We hope this is the first step towards solving and overcoming her trauma. And now we wonder what move Issei will make.
