The 'Only Murders in the Building' podcast is getting closer to figuring out exactly how they are being set up, and we are trying to participate in the investigation alongside them. Episode 2

Part 1. And Here's Lucy!
Today's episode will largely be presented through the perspective of Lucy (Zoe Colletti), Charles Savage's (Steve Martin) former foster daughter. The episode begins with a very cozy scene that demonstrates the special bond between Charles and Lucy, formed long ago and persisting even after the adults parted ways. Then we are shown a series of correspondences between Charles and Lucy, through which Savage learns about the new marriage of Lucy's mother.
Then Lucy meets the other authors of the 'Only Murders in the Building' podcast in person, Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez). This leads to a hilarious and very realistic dialogue where even the relatively young Mabel can't keep up with modern teenage slang. As a loving aunt with sixteen years of experience, your humble servant can responsibly state that this is exactly how it is.
As a result, the trio and Lucy suddenly find the murder weapon – a bloodied knife, so carefully planted for them by someone. The question 'how???' is resolved very quickly, right after another very suspicious visit from Howard (Michael Cyril Creighton), who keeps climbing higher on my personal suspect list. But before that, we are treated to one of the funniest scenes of the entire season, between Oliver, the knife, and the ceiling.
Actually, I take back my words from the first recap – Oliver is turning out to be great so far. Not only does he get the best comedic moments and lines, but there's also a very sweet storyline with his son that continues from the first season.
Part 2. Mazes and 'Only Murders in the Building'
We keep forgetting about the word 'building' in the series title. But the focus on the Arconia is not accidental – and in this episode, the building truly becomes a full-fledged participant in the events. As Oliver dubbed them, we are introduced to the real Arcatacombs, through which one can apparently access any apartment.
And it's very timely, because just before the discovery of the Arcatacombs, thanks to Lucy, we had the pleasure of meeting... Teddy Dimas (Nathan Lane)! Ah, how nice it is to see a familiar face, and such a charismatic one at that! Nathan Lane and James Caverly, who played Teddy's deaf son Theo, were the true highlights of the first season! I hope we get to see a bit more of them, because the threats Teddy hurled at Oliver in this episode were extremely intriguing.
So, the 'Only Murders in the Building' crew learns that their prime suspect, Nina (Christine Ko), is planning to modernize the Arconia, and they decide to pay her an unexpected visit.
Part 3. You're Having a Baby
We won't dwell too long on listing all the things the characters used as a gift/pretext for the visit. We won't even particularly focus on the funny dialogues or the fact that Charles once played the lead role in a show about an obstetrician. We'll simply pay tribute to a wonderful scene that relies entirely on Steve Martin's brilliant performance.
When Nina's water breaks right in the middle of a serious conversation, it is Charles who turns out to be the most clear-headed of the trio. His words of comfort perfectly underscore the main theme of the entire episode – the importance of family and relationships between generations.
It seems the entire season will place special emphasis on this theme – Lucy recently reappeared in Charles's life, who is himself trying to sort out his feelings towards his father, while Oliver and his son serve as a contrast to Teddy Dimas and Theo. At the same time, the scene also serves purely pragmatic purposes, as Nina shows genuine interest in catching Bunny's killer and is removed from the suspect list.
The very strong episode concludes with an incredible twist – Savage sends Lucy (who, it turns out, nearly crossed paths with the killer on that fateful evening) home to her mother and heads to prison to ask a few questions of the undeniable fan favorite, Jan (Amy Ryan). Well, the second season is picking up speed, 'Only Murders in the Building' is in full swing, and Cara Delevingne and Amy Schumer are nowhere to be seen or heard. Hooray, comrades!
