In December last year, the series ‘Your Honor’ was released on the more.tv platform. You can read about the pros and cons of the film in our article.

The series “Your Honor” is an adaptation of the Israeli series of the same name. This story was also previously produced on Showtime. All three stories share the same premise: a judge’s son hits a teenager with his car and flees the scene. When the father finds out, he wants to handle everything by the book. There’s just one big “but”—the victim is the son of a crime boss.

The Main Difference Between the American Series and Ours

The American adaptation of “Your Honor” focuses more on the emotional side of the story. We see the father-son relationship develop. Bryan Cranston’s character constantly tries to understand his on-screen child’s feelings and shield him from events.

The Americans didn’t pay much attention to the incident itself that sets the story in motion. The events are more centered on the court case against the victim’s brother, who is seeking revenge on the alleged killer.

How Did Our Version Turn Out?

The creators managed to make a crime thriller where emotions aren’t as important. Many movie enthusiasts note that our characters are very unemotional.

On one hand, this can even be considered a plus. We move through the story rapidly, with events changing one after another. There’s really no time for tears and cries of “Son, what are you feeling right now?”

On the other hand, those who still prefer at least a little heart-to-heart conversation may be disappointed.

So what’s the main advantage of our version of “Your Honor”? The plot. The final episode literally takes your breath away, as all the loose ends are tied up. We realize that everything that happened over these eight episodes was interconnected. Even the smallest events from the very first episode are not coincidental. The American version, on the other hand, shows that everything in our lives can happen by fate, completely by chance. We have the power to change the story a little. But everything in life comes at a cost.

And again, I want to draw attention to the plot, or rather to the set of characters. Each of them is connected to another. Every action of one globally affects the fate of another. On many posters and in commercials, we can see Alexei Serebryakov. Unfortunately, his character doesn’t get much screen time. But what minutes they are! He is the father of the boy who got into the accident, and he himself is in prison. He manages the entire operation to find the person responsible for the accident through phone calls to his second son. Serebryakov creates the image of a kind of spider pulling the right strings.

Each version of “Your Honor” touches on certain national issues. In the American version, it’s the rights of the Black population; in the Israeli version, it’s the Bedouin community. In our version, the place of the oppressed minority is taken by the Roma diaspora. Interestingly, it’s in our version that traditions and national characteristics are given the most attention. We see how relationships are structured in families and observe national customs. Two worlds collide before us: the criminal world and the world of harsh traditions.

What About the Drawbacks?

Are there any downsides to watching our version of “Your Honor”? When you sit down to watch, find good headphones or turn up the speakers. Unfortunately, sound mixing in our film production is still a weak point.

On February 7 at 7:30 PM, there will be special screenings of the first two episodes of “Your Honor” at Cinema Park and Formula Kino theaters. In that case, there will definitely be no sound issues, and you’ll also have the chance to see the beautiful views of Primorsk on the big screen.

So, if you want to watch an emotional drama with elements of court proceedings, feel free to choose the American version. If you’re more interested in a crime drama with a quality detective storyline and good cinematography, watch our version.
