Let's remember and discuss what we saw in the eighth episode of the season of 'Dexter: New Blood'.
The closer the season finale, the more intense the drama gets. In the previous episode, Dexter Morgan was kidnapped, and Kurt was plotting something sinister regarding Harrison (deviating from his 'code'). But the main character wouldn't be himself if he didn't get out of yet another jam. However, the worst is yet to come. For now, let's break down what we saw in the new episode.

Bringing a Knife to a Gunfight
Dexter, upon learning that Kurt was taking Harrison somewhere, didn't hesitate and attacked his kidnapper. As a result of the crash, the main character manages to get out of the car and free himself from the handcuffs. However, the kidnapper doesn't give up so easily and stages a real hunt for Dex. He manages to shoot Morgan with a rifle, and then follows his bloody trail.
Dexter himself has 'hunted' dozens of times, so he confuses his pursuer and attacks him in a summer camp cabin he finds in the middle of the woods (convenient, huh, fellow screenwriters?). After extracting Kurt's destination (a hunting lodge), Dexter kills the poor guy with a knife. He obviously wants the same fate for Kurt.
Is Dexter Morgan So Simple?
While Dexter is fighting his kidnapper, Police Chief Angela tries to make sense of her ex-lover's suspicious actions. From her partner, she learns that Dexter, in her absence, managed to beat up a local drug dealer. The girl decides to talk to the criminal, and he tells her about Jim-Dexter's attack using a syringe.
The next thing Angela finds out is that the drug dealer's supplier died just an hour before the police arrived. At the morgue, she decides to check the victim's neck and finds a similar syringe mark. From the pathologist, she learns that, among other things, ketamine (used for anesthesia in medicine) was found in the deceased's blood. Look surprised — the same ketamine was also found in the drug dealer.
Putting the different pieces together, Angela decides to Google the history of the Bay Harbor Butcher (don't ask why — Dexter is from Miami, c'mon!). And one of the news articles tells her that ketamine was also present in the blood of the serial killer's victims. Too many coincidences are unlikely to give Angela peace. And Dexter should be more afraid of his ex-girlfriend than of Kurt.
This Is What He Wanted
After getting out of jail, having fed the police a line of bull, Kurt immediately called Harrison and invited him to 'hang out.' First, they went to the school. Even though it was closed, the old man got the boy inside using keys he had kept from way back when.
Kurt showed off his son's trophies, who excelled in several sports. At the same time, he discussed the problems of fathers and sons with Harrison, using his own example and their situation with Dexter. Then he showed him a couple of baseball techniques and tested the boy's toughness (successfully — the bruises from the balls were proof).
After this school tour, Kurt took Harrison to the hunting lodge to treat him to venison. It was there that his henchman was supposed to bring Dexter as well. But not waiting for his assistant, the serial killer put on his signature 'costume' with a balaclava and, according to his ritual, ordered Harrison to run. And just as Kurt was about to fire, Dexter arrived. The wounded main character managed to knock the weapon out of his enemy's hands, but he managed to escape into the woods.
On the way home, Dexter started a conversation that was needed from the very beginning, both for him and his son. He told him that he, too, was born in blood. He explained to his offspring why he was drawn to Kurt. Dex called it his dark — no, not passenger — beginning. And he promised to teach him the code, i.e., how to cope with it. After these words, Harrison warmly hugged his father.
There's a feeling that this is the last positive moment for Dexter in this story.
