Let's remember and discuss what we saw in the fourth episode of the season of 'Dexter: New Blood'.
Another week has flown by, which means we once again dive into the dark world of 'Dexter', where one problem of the hero is abruptly replaced by another, much more burdensome for the former blood spatter analyst. And this problem is directly related to his son Harrison. But let's take it in order.

Who Cares About the Lie?
Dexter can breathe easy: Kurt told the police that his son is alive (though we know that's not true). Police Chief Angela still wants to talk to the guy about the deer killing, but obviously, now that it's not about a human murder, the case won't be pursued as vigorously. And Deb's attempts to play detective, hinting that Kurt might eventually threaten Dex, seem like nothing more than flirting with the audience.
What's more interesting is to think about why Kurt is lying.
On one hand, it's logical to assume that a police force stirred up and combing the town could threaten his own criminal activities (remember, we haven't dismissed the theory that Kurt kills young girls who have been disappearing for years).
But on the other hand, that's not a very convincing argument. Kurt himself previously begged Angela to bring more people in to search for Matt. So, by and large, he's the instigator of all this. But what wouldn't you do for a cover story?!
Or is Kurt covering for someone else?
Harrison and His Dark Passenger
In the previous recap, we promised to pay more attention to the character of Jamie Chung Chun, podcast host Molly Park. And we were spot on—her character played a key role in this episode.
First, she shifted her focus to investigating the missing girls, even though she originally came because of the 'potential' murder of Matt. Along with her came her 'army of armchair detectives' numbering nearly a million. She even managed to convince the skeptical Angela that her help would be useful. An intriguing pair of investigators is shaping up.
Second, it was her podcast that Harrison was listening to when he stumbled upon an episode about the Trinity Killer. And as we know, it was Trinity who killed the boy's mother right in front of him, leaving the toddler in a pool of her blood.
Immediately after, a tragedy occurs. Harrison is wounded by a knife. According to him, he was suddenly attacked by Ethan (the boy Dex's son had previously defended from school bullies). In self-defense, Harrison wounded the attacker with the same knife, sending him to the ICU.
And on the surface, this story seems coherent. However, Dexter's long-standing fear that his son would be just like him won't let him rest. Together with Deborah, he conducts an experiment and realizes that Harrison is lying.
According to Dex, Harrison himself attacked Ethan and used a different knife (he determined this from the nature of the boy's wound). And while the whole town celebrates the son (even Kurt personally thanks Harrison for the act, giving him a quadcopter), Dexter searches for and finds the murder weapon—the same straight razor that Trinity used to kill his wife Rita. And he realizes that his offspring's Dark Passenger is awakening.
Apparently, Dexter has a long and difficult conversation ahead with Harrison. And likely more than one.
What About the Serial Killer?
It's clear that Harrison is only one foot on the dangerous path. But the 'killer of the season' has yet to be revealed. Although the show's creators, with persistence worthy of respect, continue to hint that it could be Kurt. It's no coincidence that they show us a scene where he helps another 'lost soul'. First, he offers her a job, then leads her to a house that resembles the building from which another missing girl previously escaped. Or rather, tried to escape before being shot.
The new season is seriously picking up pace: the expected transformation of Harrison (though it could easily be a red herring), the cat-and-mouse game between Dexter and Kurt (the latter, in one dialogue, caught the main character knowing about Matt's story and the boat incident), and the inclusion of a savvy podcaster in the investigation. Something is about to happen. I hope the writers can handle all the ideas that could be realized given the new developments. And we'll continue to watch.
